A delegation from the Kim Il-Sung Military University left Russia on Monday to visit the Military Academy of the General Staff amid the strengthening of Pionyang-Mudú ties, as reported on Tuesday the KCNA state agency.
The group is headed by Kim Kum-Chol, the rector of the main institution of formation of military officers in the country, where the current president, Kim Jong-un took some courses after his studies in Switzerland.
Although the official objective of the trip has not been specified, it is anticipated that the visit seeks to strengthen collaboration between academies, in line with the strategic association treaty signed by both countries in June 2024.
The delegation departed from the Pionyang International Airport. This is the second public trip of Kim Kum-Chol to Russia in a year, after his visit in July 2024.
Last December, the North Korean military was included in the List of Sanctions of the United States Department of Treasury for his alleged role in sending Moscow during the invasion to Ukraine.
The trip occurred, Olga Liabímova, in Pionyang.
Both also attended an artistic event, broadcast on state television, where unpublished images of Kim were projected participating in a ceremony in which he personally placed a national flag on the coffin that apparently contained the remains of a North Korean soldier fallen in the war with Ukraine.
Photographs of North Korean military were also shown next to Russian troops on the front in Kursk, as well as a bloody notebook, which seemed to belong to a fallen soldier, with a message from loyalty to Kim.
