Brazilians secured R $ 495,600 with victories in their debut; On Wednesday (2.Jul), they face lower ranking opponents
Tennis players João Fonseca and Bia Haddad compete for the 2nd round of Wimbledon on Wednesday (2.Jul.2025) with a chance to accumulate R $ 741 thousand in awards. The Brazilians won their debut games on Monday (30.Jun) at the traditional tournament held in London, the United Kingdom.
With the victories in the 1st phase, each guaranteed £ 66,000 (about $ 495.6 thousand in the current price). If they advance again, the value rises to 99,000 pounds.
In the debut, Bia Haddad, number 20 of the world, defeated Slovak Rebecca Sramkova by 2 sets at 0. João Fonseca, 54th in the world ranking, beat Briton Jacob Fearnley by 3 sets at 0.
In the 2nd phase, Brazilians will face lower-position opponents in the ranking: Fonseca will play against the American Jenson Brooksby, 101st, while Bia, WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) pair champion, will face Hungarian Dalma Galfi, number 110 of the world. The schedules have not yet been defined.
Wimbledon will distribute a record value of £ 53.5 million (approximately R $ 401 million) in awards this year, up 7% compared to 2024. The amount includes all categories of the event, including simple competitions, doubles and wheelchair disputes.

In the qualifying phase, the values range from 15,600 pounds (R $ 116,700) in the 1st round up to 41,500 pounds (R $ 310,600) in the 3rd phase.
