Serhij Zhadan is the new carrier of the Austrian State Prize for European Literature. The decision for the Ukrainian author announced Minister of Culture Andreas Babler (SPÖ) on Tuesday. The 50-year-old receives the price endowed with 25,000 euros and awarded since 1965 on July 25th at a ceremony on the edge of the Salzburg Festival. The state prize is recognized by a literary work that has received special attention internationally.
