The White House published a memorandum of Donald Trump announcing a tightening of politics against Cuba. It supports the embargo and limits hiking.

US President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Monday to tighten the United States’ policy towards Cuba, and abolished the measures introduced by his predecessor Joe Biden, the White House said. According to AP and Reuters reports, TASR reports this.

The document published by the White House on its website states that Trump “is determined to support free and democratic Cuba and deal with the long -term suffering of the Cuban people under the Communist regime”. The Memorandum “terminates the economic policy from which the Cuban government, the army, intelligence or security services at the expense of the Cuban people are disproportionately benefit from the Cuban government.”

Complete travel ban

For example, the regulation states that the US should look for ways to completely stop tourism to Cuba and limit educational tours to groups that are organized and led exclusively by US citizens.

According to AP, this step is no surprise, as Trump has previously stated that it is planning to abolish the release of sanctions and other restrictions on Cuba, which have been introduced during the term of office of democratic presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The outgoing Biden’s administration on January 14 eliminated Cuba from the list of terrorism supporting countries. However, Trump, on January 20, took on the office, he again included Cuba for this list.

Tightened sanctions

The White House Memorandum “supports the economic embargo against Cuba and disagrees with the calls of the United Nations and other international forums to cancel it”.

Trump’s administration also ranked Cuba among the seven countries concerning tightened restrictions for visitors and abolished temporary legal protection against deportation for about 300,000 Cubans. In June, the US government announced visa restrictions for Cuban and foreign government officials involved in medical missions in Cuba, which US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio described as “forced work”.
