Edtstadler elected by a large majority as Salzburg Governor

Karoline Edtstadler is the Governor of Salzburg. The 44-year-old ÖVP politician was elected on Wednesday morning by the state parliament in open coordination with the votes of ÖVP, FPÖ and SPÖ as the successor to Wilfried Haslauer Junior. If there is no early elections, it is in office until the regular election date in spring 2028. Edtstadler is the second woman at the head of the Salzburg state government and the eleventh head of government since 1945. Haslauer jun. belonged to the state government for 21 years, including twelve years as governor.
