Hamas is considering a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire with Israel. Diplomats from Egypt and Qatar are discussing the conditions for stopping fighting and humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian militant Hamas movement said on Wednesday that he was studying a draft agreement on a ceasefire in war with Israel in the Gaza Strip presented by intermediaries. US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday night that Israel agreed to the conditions of a 60-day ceasefire, TASR reports according to AFP and Times of Israel (Toi).

Hamas stated in a statement that “leads national consultations to discuss the proposals of intermediaries”. The movement wrote that it is trying to “reach an agreement that guarantees the termination of aggression, withdrawal (Israel from Gaza) and urgent assistance to the people in the Gaza Strip”.

Meeting in Cairo

The Hamas delegation should meet in Cairo on Wednesday with intermediaries from Egypt and Qatar and discuss the proposed ceasefire conditions, TOI writes.

In the past period, Trump has increased pressure on the Israeli government and Hamas to reach a ceasefire and an agreement to release the hostages and ended the Gaza war. Next Monday in the White House will welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The US President hopes that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will agree next week.

Netanyahu’s statement

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also commented on the current situation on Wednesday, according to which after the war in the Gaza Strip “there will be no Hamas”. The head of the Israeli government also thinks that it is possible to free all the hostages of Hamas detained without having to give up the goal of completely destroying the Palestinian militant movement.
