Hydrangeas tolerate the heat bad. Do it to protect them from wilting

Hydrangeas begin to bloom in June, enjoying our eyes with great, spherical or conical flowers. No wonder that so many gardeners choose them to their garden. These plants should be properly taken care of, especially in the heat. That’s when they are exposed to drying and wilting.

During periods of long -term drought, they may suffer – their flowers begin to dry quickly, and the leaves wilted. Then a significant deterioration of condition may occur, even within a few hours during a hot day.

All because of quick water evaporation from delicate leaves and flowers. The plaque of the plant root system does not keep up with fluid supplementing. Therefore, the bush looks weak, but also becomes less resistant to diseases and frost in the next season.

Fortunately, hydrangea with brown leaves and dry flowers is to be saved. This limit of evaporation is a defense mechanism against heat. Does not mean the total death of the plant.

We will save hydrangeas dried by the sun by changing care. When using specific rules, they will revive and release new shoots again. So what should you do?

Above all Let’s water the plants every day, flooding their base abundantly. Thanks to this, the water will reach the deep layers of the roots. It will not evaporate quickly if we hydrate them in the morning or evening.

We will limit water evaporation, and thus protect the roots from pairing thanks to mulching. So let’s protect the ground with pine bark, leaves, straw or compost.

Let’s cover the hydrangea in full sun with white agrotextile, shading mesh or even an umbrella. We move potted specimens to a shady place for hot weather.

When high temperatures prevail outside, It is worth refraining from fertilizationwhich could charge the specimen. The same applies to removing dried flowers. Remember that they perform the function of protection for buds underneath. Therefore, they should be cut only after the heat.

Before planting new hydrangea bushes, It is worth choosing the right position, i.e. where the sun is in the morning and the shadow in the afternoon. Then they will not be dried by intense sunlight.

We can buy species that are resistant to drought. I am talking about a shrub or oak -shaped hydrangea.

We also recommend funding the specimens of the droplet system. Thanks to it, the bushes will be irrigated regularly and sparingly, which will prevent drying.
