Union attorney General Jorge Messias announced during a news conference at the Lisbon Forum on Wednesday (2) that retired and pensioners of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) will soon receive good news about the reimbursement of improperly discounted values.
According to Messiah, the federal government is about to fully fulfill the promise to restore all discounts resulting from a criminal fraud that affected the INSS beneficiaries. “Our retirees and pensioners will soon have good news,” he said.
Agreement between institutions
The attorney general of the Union revealed that, after intense dialogue with the Federal Public Prosecution Service, the Federal Public Defender’s Office and the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), it was possible to build a beneficial solution for society.
“We got, with all the institutions of the Justice System, to build an agreement for the benefit of society,” explained Messiah, highlighting the participation of the president of the OAB, Beto Simonetti, in the negotiations.
Conciliation Proposal
Messias reported that a proposal for conciliation agreed between Union, INSS, AGU, DPU, Union Public Prosecution Service and OAB will be presented in the coming hours. This proposal fully guarantees the conditions and reimbursement of all values improperly discounted by retirees and pensioners.
The union’s general lawyer emphasized that the fraud did not start in the current government, but it was in it that it ended criminal practice. In addition, the current administration is committed to repairing damage to INSS beneficiaries.
“Soon, President Lula will give this announcement and offer a payment schedule to our retirees and pensioners,” concluded Messiah, noting the importance of this measure for the beneficiaries of the INSS affected by the fraud.
