The Municipal Secretariat of Environment of Balneário Barra do Sul, on the north coast of Santa Catarina, said it received an anonymous complaint last week reporting mistreatment to a horse. According to the report, a driver would have dragged the animal by a public road from the municipality.
During the investigation, the secretariat team obtained images of security cameras that recorded the scene. Watch the video:
The videos were referred to the Civil Police, who set up one, identify those responsible and investigate the circumstances.
According to the corporation, the case happened on June 16. The images were only released on Monday (2). The horse was found lifeless on a wasteland in the Pinheiros region, and the suspicious driver would have discarded the body in an inappropriate place.
The animal was buried after technical evaluation by a veterinarian of the municipality, but since the destination of the body occurred before any expert examination, it was not possible to determine the cause of death.
The Civil Police reported that images and other elements are already being analyzed to clarify the authorship and possible criminal responsibilities.
