Acre is part of the list of 16 Brazilian states that maintain its own state program to protect victims and threatened witnesses, with the support of the Tested – National Policy coordinated by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC). Created 26 years ago, the Tested It ensures security, housing, social assistance and even provisional identity change for people under threat for collaborating with investigations or legal proceedings. Currently, the program serves about 510 people across the country, including family members.

In Acre, the program works through state agreement and can be accessed by direct request of the victim, authorities or civil society organizations, upon opinion of the Public Prosecution Service. After technical analysis, the ticket is evaluated by a deliberative council.
More than security, the Tested It guarantees dignity and conditions for the threatened person to restore life with autonomy and protection.
