The (Attorney General of the Union) requested the opening of an investigation into anticoncurrential practices in the after analyzing evidence that distributors and resellers would not be passing on to the consumer the falls recorded in refineries.
Department of the agency analyzed data provided by the Special Secretariat of Government Analysis of the Civil House, and the National Secretariat of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The information referred to the AGU points to evidence of anticoncorrested practices in the formation of gasoline, diesel and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) prices along the fuel supply chain, especially in fuel distribution and resale links.
Problems were also found in price training in LPG, diesel and gasoline markets, especially in the North, related to the Amazon Ream (Refinery) and also to the LPG distribution market.
The request for investigation was forwarded to (Administrative Council for Economic Defense), to (National Consumer Secretariat), the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, and the National Prosecutor’s Office of the Union of Public Patrimony and Probity, unit of AGU linked to the PGU (Attorney General of the Union).
Document prepared by the department indicates that the distribution and resale links of gasoline, diesel and LPG do not readjust prices proportionate to refinery adjustments, impairing consumers.
Between July 2024 and June 2025, it has readjusted seven times gasoline, diesel and LPG prices in refineries – such increases and four price reductions. According to the ministry, only when the company raised prices distributors and resellers fully passed on the readjusted value and, in general, in a higher proportion than discharge.
When refinery prices declined, distributors and resellers reduced their prices at values lower than the decrease practiced, which would have generated the distributors and resellers an additional income, absorbed on their margins, to the detriment of consumers.
