Republicans of the House of Representatives approved this Thursday the budget bill of President Donald Trump, “Big, Beautiful Bill”, sending him to his secretary to be signed.
The package, approved by the Senate in a marathon session earlier this week, includes tax cuts and funding increases for the Pentagon and border security. It also includes more controversial expenses to pay the rest of the bill, including the largest reduction in the federal social security network in decades.
The proposal gives Trump the first major legislative achievement of his second term, after a fierce campaign of Republican party leaders to unite a deeply divided party around his internal agenda.
The historical victory of the Republicans happens only six months after the beginning of Trump’s second administration – a quick calendar that seemed to be at stake until the final vote. The president and his allies in the capitol have increased pressure on party resistors in recent days, arguing that the package will help to cement Trump’s legacy in issues such as immigration and fiscal policy – including the realization of fundamental campaign promises – while trying to control expense with historical cuts in federal support to the social security network.
Almost no margin for errors, the mayor of representatives, Mike Johnson, and the leader of the Senate, John Thune, convinced almost all members of his party to align with Trump. They got it despite months of complaints from tax “hawks” about the deficit explosion with a law proposal from various billion dollars and, separately, concerns of more moderate members about historical cuts in Medicaid.
The driving force behind the megaproject of the Republicans was simple: Trump and his ferorean control over the Republican Party.
“Only one man can seal the deal,” said Mrs Anna Paulina Luna about Trump’s involvement in the last hours of the House’s effort to approve the bill.
