Danish police intervene at the Israeli embassy for a suspicious shipment

The Israeli embassy in Copenhagen is investigating a suspicious package. The site is provided by the police and the hardly armed forces, the situation is monitored by the authorities.

A suspicious package was delivered to the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen on Thursday and the local police were called, TASR reports on the basis of AP report.

Danish public television DR has broadcast several shots as police cars stand near the embassy in the northern suburbs of HellerUp. There were also cops, hardly armed soldiers and men in dark green protective clothing.

Police investigation

The Copenhagen police on the social network X said “it is at the Israeli embassy and investigates the shipment received”. “We don’t have any further information at the moment,” she added. In the following posts she reported that she is still in place and is likely to spend a few hours there.

The head of the Copenhagen police Anders Frederiksen told Ekstra Bladet’s local newspaper that “citizens in this area should not be afraid” and that the investigation is underway within the embassy. He did not disclose details of the content of the shipment to the newspaper.

Security measures

Following the recent 12-day air conflict between Israel and Iran, many Israeli and Jewish institutions in Europe have tightened security measures. Last week, police arrested a man in Aarhus, Denmark. He was suspected of gathering information about Jewish sites and persons in Germany for the Iranian intelligence service.

The German Prosecutor’s Office claims to have been given the task of gathering information about “Jewish sites and specific Jewish persons in Berlin”. They did not provide more information, but the man could work on an attack targeting “Jewish goals”.
