The case informed on Wednesday by the spokeswoman of the Prague police Kristýna Zelinková points out the danger of the so -called “romantic fraud”. The communication between the victim and the fraudster took place in Czech through a social network and gradually grew into a virtual loving relationship, he informs.
The man turned to the police in the first half of June. The false “Bullock” promised him marriage, an early personal visit and even a common living in San Francisco, USA. The money that the crook demanded was to be used to secure the journey and for her children.
“The notifier gradually lost more than six million crowns. In most cases it was a purchase and subsequent forwarding of funds in the form of gift cards. The damaged money received, for example, by selling his property, when he finally sold his own roof over his head,” Zelinkova said.
In love and destroyed
A deceived man for CNN Prima News described his despair: “We fell in love with each other. She wanted me to send her my money to get married – she claimed to love me. She promised to buy a larger apartment in San Francisco. no future. ”
The police investigate the case as a fraud for which the perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison. However, the investigation is often challenging, as fraudsters operate from abroad and can successfully wipe off the traces.
Zelink spokeswoman again calls for extra caution when communicating on the Internet. People should not send money to anyone and should always require a personal meeting. Fraudsters often abuse the loneliness of their victims, promise them love, marriage or common housing, often married to soldiers, doctors or celebrities.
“The consequences of such fraud are often very fatal for victims. Remember that anyone can sit behind the screen on the other side,” warns Zelink.
