On Tuesday, July 1, the new formation of the Council of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorrement. During the session, the parliamentarians elected the president and the collegiate vice presidents. Deputy Fábio Schiochet (Union-SC) was chosen, through symbolic voting, to lead the Ethics Council, after appointment of the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB).
On the same occasion, Federal Deputy Rodrigo da Zaeli (PL-MT) was nominated by the Liberal Party (PL) to join the Board. With an articulation near the party’s strong core, Zaeli has been able to ensure strategic positions in the House of Representatives, reinforcing opposition.
Created in 2001, the Council of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorus is the body responsible for applying penalties in cases of violation of parliamentary decorum within the House of Representatives. The collegiate consists of 21 full members and an equal number of alternates, with a two -year term.
In May this year, the Council voted for the three-month suspension of the former president, Deputy Gilvan of the Federal (PL-ES), due to “conduct incompatible with parliamentary decorum”. This decision was signaled by the rapporteur of the case, Ricardo Maia (MDB-BA), in relation to the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, and Federal Deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ).
