The world of football is mourning with the death of Diogo Jota. Gianni Infantino, president of the maximum sports entity, regretted the loss and provided his condolences to the player’s family.
Infantino used Portuguese, to speak directly to the family. The president also recalled the player’s presence in the last World Cup, played at Qatar.

“Today is a very sad day for the world of football. The news of the loss of Diogo Jota and his brother André is very sad. We want to express our sincere condolences to Diogo’s family. He was in the last World Cup, Qatar, a son, a father, a fantastic person. We have our hearts with all his family at this difficult time,” he said in a video posted by FIFA itself.
Diogo Jota was 28 years old and traveled with his brother, André, when he suffered the car accident. The car was totally destroyed and the two died on the spot. Liverpool, the player’s club and other important football personality provided condolences.
The Portuguese athlete came from a lung surgery and, therefore, decided to drive from Spain to Liverpool. Diogo Jota had married 11 days ago.
