The police in Chicago said a dark vehicle had passed around the restaurant, from which shots were burned into people standing on the street. The vehicle immediately left after shooting.
Two men aged 24 and 25 were killed in the shooting. Fourteen people aged 21-32 suffered gunshot wounds and were transferred to local hospitals. Thirteen of the 18 dead and shot are women.
They have not yet retained anyone in connection with the shooting. It was not known how many people were shooting from the car.
