Lisbon-The Governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), said on Thursday (3), during the Lisbon Forum, that there is no doubt about COP30 in Belém. Faced with criticism of international delegations about the city’s infrastructure, Barbalho was emphatic: “This is expired matter. COP will be in Bethlehem.”
Asked by journalists about complaints about hotel infrastructure and raising prices for lodging during COP30, the governor ensured that the conditions are secured. “The offer of beds is assured and is guaranteed,” he said.
Barbalho also detailed that the federal government will formalize the hiring of cruise ships to expand lodging capacity, which will increase the total offer to 50,000 beds. “Of the most diverse strategies and profiles,” he added.

Regarding doubt about the Guamá River’s ability to receive large vessels, the governor responded firmly: “There is no doubt. This solution even underwent disgust, by technical study.”
About criticism of the city and movements by foreign delegations that consider requesting the transfer of the event, Barbalho stated that the decision is already made by the United Nations. “This decision is made, including the United Nations, recognizing all the investments that are being made and, especially, to value the decision to be able to make the world’s largest environmental event in the Amazon rainforest.”
COP30 is scheduled to take place in November 2025 and will be the first held in the Amazon, and will have coverage of the Infomoney directly from Belém.
