The Court of Croatia sentenced a man to 50 years in prison on Thursday, who was shot by six people, including his mother in Daruv, last year. This was reported by the AFP news agency, writes TASR.
Kreshimir Pahoki was given the highest possible sentence for the murder of five inhabitants and one employee of the facility for seniors In Daruvara about 100 kilometers east of Zagreb. According to Judge, Maja Sikor’s attack lasted only ten minutes, but there were six dead and six injured. She stated that the act was “performed cold -blooded” and the amount of the sentence reflects its severity.
Pahoki, a former member of the Military Police, entered the retirement home to talk to the owner about the debt for taking care of his mother. Then he pulled out the gun and started shooting. The 50 -year -old Pahoki refused to blame. During the testimony, he only stated that he fought for Croatia during the war in the 1990s and that he had nothing to say about the act.
Psychiatric examination confirmed that it was fully sane. It may appeal against the judgment. However, Pahoki did not indicate whether he would use this option. Cases of mass shooting are rare in Croatia and the Daruvara case is one of the worst since the country’s independence in 1991.
