According to the special advisor of the Operational Command, the brigade general Lucio Alves de Souza, the equipment used even should be the same.
“We will use the same equipment. This was a guidance from the Ministry of Defense, that planning was similar to what was employed in the G20, since it worked, so it had no sense to decrease anything. What happened were minor adjustments,” he said.
According to the operational command, will be used by the Armed Forces, among other equipment, 361 vehicles, 147 motorcycles, 68 wheel vehicles, 38 armored vehicles, ten ships, nine vessels, eight helicopters, three radars and six anti -harmony equipment.
Aircraft with missiles
Despite the similarities, one of the changes will be the mobilization of missile aircraft, which will occur for the first time since the 2016 Olympic Games.
“The missile ends up being more equipment that the aircraft has to fulfill its mission,” said the head of the Department of Airspace Control Operations, André Gustavo Fernandes Peçanha. “It gives you a bigger security, gives one more option. Asked whether to consider the BRICS gathering a riskier event than previous events, Souza states: “It’s as risky as everyone else, because just a mistake on our part so we have an incident that plays all the planning downwards. So all the events we follow in Rio de Janeiro, all of them give the same responsibility, the same concern, the same concern”.
Scanning in official vehicles
Also on Wednesday, the Federal Police announced that they are conducting scanning in the official vehicles that will transfer the authorities participating in the event. The goal is to identify and neutralize any threat that can compromise the safety of the summit.
The action, according to the PF, involves dozens of specialized federal police and has the support of sniffer dogs. Inspected vehicles will be driven by approximate security teams of the PF, responsible for bringing heads of state, ministers and other authorities to the various commitments provided for in the event’s programming.
In addition to the car inspection, the PF will conduct surveys in buildings where the dome activities will take place, as well as in hotels and other places that will receive international representatives.
