The experienced player terminated his contract with the English team who held his rights, and signed this Friday (4) definitive contract with the Rio club until the middle of next year. “Renewing my contract with Vasco is a moment of great happiness. Vasco is my home. It’s the place where I was raised, I studied, grew up and that my family and I love. It is a year of hard work with this shirt and with my companions,” the player told the club’s website. Coutinho had had a bond with Aston Villa since 2022, initially also on loan. The player, who agreed a definitive contract with the English club that same year, has accumulated 43 games and six goals for the European team.
In July last year, the Brazilian made his return to the team where he developed from the base. The initial bond was loan, precisely until this month of July. Now he will inherit the number 10 shirt, which was being worn by Frenchman Dimitri Payet – the foreigner left the club last month. Since returning to the Cruzmaltino team, Coutinho has participated in 44 matches for different competitions. He scored eight goals and distributed four assists, bright in punctual times. His best performances were happening in the weeks prior to the stoppage of the Brasileirão (due to the Club World Cup), under the command of coach Fernando Diniz.
