The president of the United States, Donald Trump, plans to organize an UFC fight on the White House land as part of a series of events to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence next year.
“Each of the battlefields and historical sites of our national parks will have special events in honor of America 250,” Trump said at the ‘América 250’ event held at the Iowa state fairgrounds on the eve of the festival of July 4.
In this sense, the leader stressed that “a fight of UFC will be held on the land of the White House.” “We have many land there. A unique fight in the UFC championship, about 20 or 25,000 people. We are going to do it, it is part of the 250 celebrations,” he added.
White House spokeswoman: “We are in conversations”
The White House Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed the plans and added that the president spoke “very seriously”, while from the UFC they indicated to the ‘CNN’ chain that they did not have additional details to share at this time. “We are in conversations with the White House about the organization of an UFC event in the place,” said a manager.
Trump has links with the organization of the UFC and its CEO, Dana White and has attended several mixed martial arts events in the past. In fact, in April he was in Miami and became the first president of the country in exercise in attending an UFC event, also participating in the ‘Walkout’, traditionally reserved for fighters.
