Two tourists were killed by an elephant on Thursday, 3, while making a safari on foot in a Zambia National Park, according to local police.
Oriental province Commissioner Robertson Mweemba said the victims – 68 -year -old Easton Janet Taylor and 67 -year -old Alison Jean Taylor – were attacked by an elephant with a puppy.
The safari guides that were with the group fired shots at the animal to try to prevent her from attacking the women according to police. The elephant was hit and wounded by the shots. But still, the guides could not prevent the attack and the two women died at the scene.

The case happened at South Luangwa National Park in eastern Zambia, about 600 kilometers from the capital, Lusaka.
The female elephants are very protective of their puppies and can react aggressively to what they consider threats.
Last year, two American tourists were killed in separated meetings with elephants in different parts of Zambia. In both cases, tourists were also elderly women and were in a safari vehicle when they were attacked.
