Ghanaian soccer player Thomas Party, whose contract with Arsenal has just ended, was accused of rape, the British police said on Friday (4).
The 32 -year -old was accused of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third, allegedly between 2021 and 2022, police said in a statement.
Ghana “denies all charges against him,” his lawyer Jenny Wilshire said in a statement sent to AFP.
“He completely cooperated with police and CPS (prosecution) during the three years of investigation” and “now welcomes the opportunity to clean his name,” he added.
Ghanabugs will attend a Westminster Court in London on August 5.
The prosecution “is the result of an investigation started in February 2022 after police received an initial report of rape,” the security force said.
Party began his career in Spain, especially Atletico Madrid, before signing with Arsenal by 2020 for 50 million euros ($ 319 million, at the time).
With the ‘Gunners’, it was an indispensable piece in Mikel Arteta’s team, acting as a defensive midfielder and sometimes as a side.
But he suffered a series of injuries that interrupted their sequence in the London team.
The contract with Arsenal was terminated on June 30, without renewal. Since then, the ganes have been without a club.
