Health Minister says he leaves when Luís Montenegro “understand”

Governing is facing problems and assuming responsibilities, finding solutions. Nothing but that. This is how I see governance and so it will be until the last moment, “he told journalists Ana Paula Martins.

The Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, said on Friday that she will abandon the position on the day the prime minister understands that her mission has come to an end, stressing that until then she will continue in the government.

“The day the Prime Minister, who is my Prime Minister, understand that my mission has come to an end, that day I end. Until then I will remain, because to govern is to face problems and take responsibility, finding solutions. Nothing beyond that. This is how I see governance and so will be until the last moment,” he said.

Ana Paula Martins spoke at the Braga Hospital, after participating in the closing session of a seminar on humanization of health care.

In his intervention, he said that health professionals, especially younger generations, also need “have life”, reconciling work with family life.

“But I don’t know if it’s just the generations of our children. I don’t know if I want to have a different life from the one I always had. (…) The world has changed and we often say that younger generations, I say that the generation of my children today wants to have a different life from the one I saw me,” he said.

In the end, to journalists, he explained his statements.“What I said inside again: all of us, human beings, we need to have a balanced life and, in this case, even to be able to rule well.”mentioned.
