Counterpoint data show that sales of the devices increased 8% over the same period last year, in the three months closed in June, and this is the first time the American company has been growing in China since the second quarter of 2023.

The positive performance happened as a result of the promotions made in May. China’s e-commerce platforms have offered discounts on iPhone 16 models, which are the latest in the brand, launched in 2024. Apple has also increased the values ​​offered in older device repurchase programs.

“Iphone price adjustment in May was done at the right time and had good acceptance, coming a week before the 618 shopping festival,” Ethan Qi, Member Director of Counterpoint, said in a statement. The 618 Festival is recognized for making great promotions throughout June in China.

This happened after the release of an advanced smartphone equipped with a high performance chip, which until then was deemed unlikely to be manufactured in the country.

From this movement, Huawei has accelerated the pace of launches in the Chinese market and is already beginning to recover space outside the country. The offensive has had an effect: the company has been gaining part of the public that once opted for iPhones.

Counterpoint survey shows that Huawei sales increased 12% in the second quarter compared to the same interval of 2024. The company took the lead in market share in China, ahead of Vivo. Apple fell to third position.
