He was knocking his leg on the glass to pass a tight door, while a security guard signaled with his arm to a journalist no longer approaching, that the governor escaped the press after participating in two panels at the Lisbon Forum, nicknamed “for having the Supreme Court Minister Gilmar Mendes as one of the organizers and gathering the political power of Brazil on Lusitanian soil.

To get to the exit, Tarcisio passed the side corridor of the stage, where Minister Raul Araújo, of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), and Federal Police Director Andrei Rodrigues attended journalists.

The contact of the authorities with the press has been frequent since the first day of the event, on Wednesday (2). Taking the mayor, Hugo Motta, who confirmed an interview and did not appear, several participants answered questions from Brazilian and Portuguese journalists.

Tarcisio chose to meet the fans. After the panels, he remained for half an hour on stage being harassed with photos, handshakes and hugs from politicians, lawyers and general public. It was undoubtedly the most harassed participant of morning programming on this last day of the forum.

In his first intervention, the governor shared the table on international context and military blocks with Henrique Gouveia and Melo, Portuguese Navy Admiral who is a candidate for president. Like Brazil, Portugal will also have elections in 2026. The duo was announced by former Defense Minister Raul Jungmann as “the two presidential presidentials of each country”, receiving applause from the audience.

In the second half, Tarcisio shared the organized crime panel with the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, with the PF director and the STJ ministers Raul Araújo Filho and Mauro Campbell Marques.

Tarcisio stated that “crime has been sophisticated,” but “security forces are also confronting themselves.” Defended the need to “garnish borders” so that there is conditions to combat organized crime.

He also commented on economics. “When we list the risks of Brazil, much is said today about fiscal risk. Perhaps this is the least important risk, because we know exactly the way, we know how to solve,” he said.

“The levers are known. We are talking about increasing foreign capital flow, reducing inflation, reducing interest rates. And then we are talking about having more resources to invest and become less vulnerable to some issues here in relation to South America, which perhaps are the greatest risk, I refer to organized crime.”

Agreeing with Gonet, who cited the “CCP factor” for investment decisions, the governor stressed that “a considerable portion of homicides in Brazil is related to drug trafficking, with the dispute of sales points. The presence of trafficking in the most vulnerable communities is what removes the state of that citizen who needs the state’s presence.”
