Alcatraz, Alcatraz, has received the first migrants in Everglades. It faces criticism because of ethical and environmental issues.
The first group of detainee migrants arrived on Thursday to the newly established Aligator Alcatraz in the Everglades National Park, Florida, USA. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the Florida General Prosecutor. TASR writes according to AP.
“Another stop: back to where they came from,” wrote Florida General James Uthmeier, who is considered to be the idea of creating a catching center in Everglades.
Relying and deportation
According to an unnamed US government representative Donald Trump’s government, immigrants will be taken here by the Florida authorities and remain until deportation from the US. On Tuesday, the center personally was also seen by President Trump.
Alcatraz is located at an abandoned airport in the middle of the mangrove forests, marshes and grasslands that together form the Everglades National Park. It is known especially for alligators that have their natural environment here and their population is estimated at 200,000.
Criticism and concern
Critics of Trump’s hard anti -immigration policy have described the modern Alcatraz with alligators as inhumane, environmental activists are against its construction in the national park.
