Cyprus complaints increase alert

At Cyprus, authorities have already received hundreds of complaints from tourists chopped by this species during their vacation on the coast. The pain caused by the bite are intense and prolonged.

In addition to swimming, Chinche has wings that allow it to fly, surprising many people when unexpectedly appears in leisure zones.

Although its bite is not lethal, it causes intense pain, comparable to that of a wasp bite, capable of ruining the day of those who suffer it.

Climate change favor expansion

The expansion of this species has been facilitated by climate change and increased water temperatures, favoring its dispersal to new regions of Europe.

With the increase in tourism in summer, the possibility of contact with this insect, especially in areas near the water, also grows, warns the portal.

Simple measures to avoid bites

To avoid bites, it is recommended to avoid swimming in areas with aquatic vegetation and be aware of strange movements in the water. Being informed is critical to ensuring a quarter and safer vacation.
