Learn how to take more clothes on a Ryanair flight without having to pay more

Avoiding unexpected costs in a low -cost airline may depend on a simple task done at the right time. A common error between hasty or distracted passengers may result in an additional invoice to arrive at the airport. The carrier in question is one of the most popular in Europe and operates regularly from several Portuguese airports.

The city of Lisbon is one of Ryanair’s main starting points and also where many passengers find that forgetting online check-in can be expensive.

According to the Irish airline, all passengers must check in online at least 24 hours in advance before the flight. This option is free. However, if check-in is done at the airport, a passenger rate is applied to cover the additional cost of face-to-face service.

Boarding Card: Printed or in the application

The boarding card is an essential document to access the departure area and later to the plane. According to the same source, if the passenger cannot present the printed or digital boarding card in the official application of Ryanair, he will be required to pay a resection fee at the airport counter.

The airline recommends that all passengers will bring the boarding card in one of the acceptable forms, avoiding additional costs right to the terminal. Write the Ryanair website that this practice allows to reduce waiting times and streamline the boarding process.

Baggage included depends on the fare

Regardless of the tariff purchased, all passengers can carry a small personal suitcase on board, with maximum dimensions of 40x20x25 cm, which should fit under the seat in front of you. This suitcase can be a backpack, a portable paste or a small handbag.

According to the same source, those who need to carry more luggage have other options available. The tariff “Priority and 2 cabin” allows, in addition to the personal suitcase, a cabin bag with up to 10 kg (55x40x20 cm), which will be placed in the upper compartment. This option also ensures priority boarding.

For the basement: 10 or 20 kg to choose

If the passenger prefer not to take luggage with you on board, you can choose to add a 10 kg basement bag or 20 kg to your reservation. According to Ryanair’s publication, the 10 kg bag should be dispatched on the counter before safety, while the 20 kg bag allows for greater transportation capacity. You can add up to three bags of 20 kg per reserve.

In case of overweight, an additional fee will be applied for each pound above the permitted, to pay at the airport, underlines Ryanair. The bags that exceed the defined dimension or weight limits (32 kg or combined measurements greater than 80x120x120 cm) are not accepted except mobility equipment.

Baby equipment with free transportation

For passengers traveling with babies (between 8 days and 23 months), the company allows the free transport of two baby equipment per child. According to the same source, no cabin baggage is attributed to the baby, but a suitcase up to 5 kg (45x35x20 cm) is allowed to travel to the accompanying adult lap.

This policy aims to facilitate the logistics of travel families at no additional costs whenever the limits are respected.

Bag measurement before boarding

At the boarding door, the company has luggage meters to verify that the bags comply with the defined criteria. If a cabin or personal suitcase exceeds the permitted dimensions, it will be redirected to the basement and subject to payment of a fee. Writes the company that this practice aims to ensure that all passengers have enough space on board.

The collection of these bags is done on the luggage carpet at the final destination.

Checklist before leaving home

The company advises passengers to confirm, before leaving for the airport, the following points: Check-in online and accessible boarding card, luggage within defined limits and, in the case of babies, the properly prepared equipment. This verification can avoid unexpected payments and make the boarding process more efficient.

Ryanair stresses that these rules are available in its accessible rate table.
