Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized on Wednesday, 2, that Federal Deputy Junio Amaral (PL-MG) visit General Walter Braga Netto, arrested preventively in Rio de Janeiro since December last year after being the target of a Federal Police Operation (PF). The date of the meeting has not yet been scheduled. The decision specifies that the visit has “strictly personal character”, thus, the entry of advisors, security guards, press members and others with the deputy will be prohibited.
In addition, Junio Amaral should enter without cell phone, photographic equipment or any electronic device. The record of images and audio is also prohibited within the prison unit, under penalty of liability.
In the order of the petition, Minister Alexandre de Moraes determined that Braga Netto’s defense was previously consulted on the request made by the deputy. The general’s lawyers were saying that the military was not opposed to the visit.
Braga Netto was a candidate for vice president by the PL ,. The military was arrested on December 14, 2024, at his residence, located in the neighborhood of Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, on charges of obstruction of justice. Preventive arrest was requested by the PF and authorized by Moraes.
