The opposition movement Slovakia considers the legacy of the faith of the brothers of St. Cyril and the Holy Method. It is an integral part of our history and is one of the most important chapters in the history of Slovaks. However, the movement disagrees with the celebrations at Devin Castle because it considers them overpriced. This stems from the opinion sent by TASR spokesman Matúš Bystriansky.
The Slovakia Movement reminded that The Thessaloniki brothers founded church schools and devoted themselves to the translation of the Holy Scripture and Liturgical Books. They also spread faith and culture and are among the most important missionaries of Christianity in European history. Their spiritual legacy is also anchored in the preamble of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. Cyrillo-Methodian celebrations on Devín repeatedly criticize the movement. They described them as a party show. It also points out that only the lower part of the Devín Castle will be accessible to the public, Horna should remain closed.
I Member of Parliament Veronika Remišová (Slovakia, for people, CH) thinks that the coalition is abusing the legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius for political goals. She described the celebrations in Devín as pompous, also given the necessary consolidation. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) looks like a protector of national and Christian values, “but in fact he is just about maintaining power and profiting from it”.
