The protest at the headquarters of Itaú, in, held on Thursday afternoon (3) by a front of social movements linked to the Federal Deputy, from, bothered members of the Government (PT).
Front militants without fear came by surprise in the lobby of the Itaú BBA building, on Faria Lima Avenue, with posters and flags that asked for the taxation of billionaires. The group has the participation of the MTST (Homeless Workers Movement), of which Boulos was coordinator.
The movement says that the place of the occupation was chosen for symbolic reasons: to Itaú. “These same banks, when they begin to break, will ask the government for help, tax exemption, and the rich in Brazil is paying less tax than us,” to the megaphone within the lobby.
A Lula government minister stated, under reserve, that the “narrow” demonstration of the mobilization for the taxation of the richest, defended by the government within a tax justice and defense of tax reduction for the poor. The campaign became a central government of the government, in a Lula popularity recovery effort.
Another ally of the president said that acts like this isolate the movement linked to Boulos, and that it will be difficult to convince public opinion that the deputy was unaware of the act.
This president’s interlocutor complained about the fact that the protest occurs at the time the president tries to recover his popularity.
Boulos said he would not comment on the demonstration, although he published a message of support for the act. “The social movement has autonomy,” he told the report.
How it showed the Sheetthe deputy has led attacks on Centrão after the government’s defeat on the issue of IOF (Tax on Financial Operations), since last week. In videos recorded for social networks, he argues that there is an alliance between Centrão and Right to approve cuts in social policies, increase Lula’s unpopularity and pave the way for a right -wing candidacy in the 2026 presidential elections.
“[Eles] They come together to overthrow Lula’s decree and try to force the government to make the cuts in the people’s loin. It is the billionaire lobby who acted so that they do not pay anything and the people pay the bill, “says the deputy in one of the posts.
Even if the management itself is offensive in networks and STF, using videos made with artificial intelligence tools that show poor by carrying the tax burden in Brazil, the posture of the PSOL deputy contrasts with that of other members of the coalition.
The Minister of Institutional Relations, and the Government leader in the House, José Guimarães (-CE), came out in defense of the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), when he became the target of attacks and memes.
Regarding any differences within the government regarding the degree of engagement necessary, Boulos says there is convergence in the agenda – “profile difference, but not vision” – and that Gleisi is right in defending Motta.
“I never made personal attack. Our discussion is political,” said the deputy. “It is natural for the Lula administration to have to do dialogue and build bridges and also that the left manifest its guidelines.”
In addition to disturbing the government, the demonstration with the participation of MTST gained support from leftist profiles on the networks and generated negative reaction from right figures.
Federal Deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) referred to the demonstration with the scammers of January 8, 2023. “How old are they going to get in jail? Or only for those who are in green and yellow?” He wrote.
Luciano Hang, the owner of the Havan stores, posted: “End of the world! Baderneiros and unoccupied stormed the headquarters of Banco Itaú, in São Paulo, asking for ‘taxation of the rich'”.
The People Front without fear called a demonstration on July 10 by the end of the 6×1 workday, income tax exemption for those who earn up to $ 5,000 and for what the government calls the “BBB” taxation: banks, bets and billionaires.
Boulos has summoned the protest on social networks and political agendas in Greater São Paulo in recent days.
