Let us be inspired by the Saints Cyril and Method in our domestic and foreign policy. Let us support the values of education, culture and mutual understanding at home and at the same time consistently insist on peaceful coexistence of nations, tolerance and diplomacy. This was declared in a speech by the President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Richard Raši (Voice-SD) during the national celebration of the arrival of Cyril and Methodius to our territory, which takes place in the Devín Castle.
Raši recalled that Cyril and Method’s attitudes are still inspiring today. “In the spread of faith and the creation of the new Scripture, the Saints Cyril and Method of Tolerance and respect for the traditions and customs of the Slavic population approached. As a result, they elevated Old Slavonic to the fourth liturgical language. At the same time, they brought the first ideas of equality and belief to the then community that every nation has the right to celebrate God in his native language and be equal to him, ”he said, adding that education is the greatest gift we can give the young generation.
“And diligence is a way to make the most of the gift,” added. At the same time, the head of parliament appreciated the idea of equality, because “all nations or states – big and small ones – have the same right to peace, peaceful and free existence”.
He also pointed out that Cyril and Method have taught us to be proud of their roots and left us a spiritual and cultural legacythat bridges between nations are being built by the ability to conduct dialogue. “We have also taught us that cooperation and unification in the values of humanism, freedom and equality is the basis of our national identity. Being a proud Slovak with sincere love for his homeland is in line with the feeling of a European civilization, ” added.
If we look for a way to raise the Slovak nation through education and culture, as well as to seek a way of peaceful coexistence of nations in Europe IV around the world, when we can develop cooperation in the spirit of tolerance, then we can proudly say that Rashi proudly that “We have not only entered in the preamble of our constitution, but we transform it into our lives every day”.
