President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva drew attention on Saturday, 5, to the need for a “multilateral governance” to address the use of artificial intelligence tools (IA). During a discourse at the BRICS Business Forum, held by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), in Rio de Janeiro, Lula pointed out that the technological revolution permeates all sectors of the economy and that, in the absence of these common guidelines, the business model of large companies in the sector will stand out.

“Artificial intelligence brings possibilities that we had not even imagined a few years ago. In the absence of collectively agreed clear guidelines, models generated only based on the experience of large technology companies will impose. The risks and side effects of artificial intelligence demand multilateral governance,” he said.

During the speech, the president also said that BRICS member countries can lead a “new development model,” based on sustainable agriculture, green industry and biofuels.

Lula pointed out that in 2024, Brazil’s commercial flow was twice as much higher with BRICS countries than with the European Union, especially the export of agribusiness items. “Rural credit, promotion of low -carbon agriculture and degraded land restoration enhance our ability to produce food for the world,” Lula said, adding that BRICS was essential for creating the global alliance against hunger.
