Russian air defense toppled Ukrainian drones in various areas of the country, including two near the second largest city in the country, St. Petersburg, authorities said on Friday (4).
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a total of 42 drones destroyed in a period of three hours, 37 of them in three regions bordering Ukraine – Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk.
The Russian authority stated that there is no report of injuries or damage.
Operations were suspended for a while at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg.
Alexander DrozDenko, governor of the Leningrad region, on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, wrote on Telegram that two drones were knocked down in different districts south of the city.
Intensified offensive
Ukraine has increasingly used drones in attacks on distant targets in Russian territory. In a set of attacks last month, A, resulted in several Russian bombers.
Musting have used an increasing number of drones to reach Ukrainian cities, with a total record of 539 drones and 11 missiles released against Kiev on Thursday night, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
