The elimination of Palmeiras in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, this Friday (4), also marked the farewell of striker Estêvão, 18 years. In the coming days, the young man will be presented by Chelsea, precisely the club that eliminated the team from São Paulo in the tournament played in the United States.
After the Palmeirense defeat 2-1, the future reinforcement of the English team regretted leaving the Brazilian team in the midst of a feeling of frustration.
“I have a broken heart because only we know how much worked to do our best. Each one left their best on the field, this is the most important. I am very proud to have been part of this cast. My family and I thank Palmeiras. Thank you, Palmeiras,” said the player.
“I was very happy with all the companions and the coaching staff. They always hugged me from the beginning. It’s sad to say goodbye to this way. Thank you very much for your support, which was fundamental. Don’t forget me, because I will never forget you,” he added.
The young promise was sold to the London club in June 2024 for 61.5 million euros (R $ 392.7 million). Shortly after the first phase dispute, the athlete admitted that it has been difficult to maintain concentration on Palmeiras, knowing that he will soon defend the blue team.
This is not the first time players have seen their future clubs shortly before a major transfer. A much remembered case is that of Neymar, who, still playing for Santos, played in the 2011 Club World Cup final against Barcelona, just before joining Messi and company. At the time, the Brazilian team was defeated 4-0.
