The Federal Supreme Court () has already condemned 643 accused for participation in acts of January 8, 2023, in Brasilia (DF). The balance of convictions was released by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the body responsible for the complaints sent to the Supreme to hold the people who depredated the premises of the Congress, Planalto Palace and the Supreme.
The convictions involve acts of the acts, who were arrested for crimes of armed criminal association, qualified damage, deterioration of the listed heritage, violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and attempted coup. The prison time ranges from three to 17 years, in addition to the solidarity payment of R $ 30 million for damage caused by the depredation of works of art, historical furniture, upholstery, electronic devices, among others.
Agreement
According to the survey released by the PGR, 555 accused signed an Agreement of Criminal Pet (ANPP) and will have their proceedings closed. The agreement allows the accused who did not directly participate in the acts of depredation to confess the crimes in exchange for measures different from the prison.
On January 8, these accused were in front of the Army Barracks in Brasilia and were accused of criminal association and incitement to the acts. Because they committed less serious crimes, they were sentenced to one year in prison, but the penalties were replaced by the provision of community services and the presence in a course on democracy. The accused are also with their passport, possession of a repealed weapon and must jointly pay the amount of R $ 5 million for collective moral damages.
