Ukraine claimed to have attacked a Russian air base on Saturday, while Russia continued to bombard the country with hundreds of drones at night.
Ukraine’s staff said the Ukrainian forces attacked Borisoglebsk Air Base in the Voronezh Russian region, describing it as the base of the SU-34, SU-35S and SU-30SM Russian fighters.
The Ukrainian staff stated that the attack has reached a planning pump deposit, a training plane and “possibly other aircraft,” according to the US Associated Press (AP) news agency.
Russian authorities did not immediately comment on the attack.
Russian air basis attacks aim to reduce Russian military capacity and demonstrate Ukraine’s ability to reach high value targets in Russia.
Ukraine said in June it had destroyed more than 40 Russian aircraft parked in several aerodromes within the Russian territory in a surprise attack with drones.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia fired 322 drones against Ukraine through tonight, of which 157 were slaughtered and 135 were lost, probably because they were blocked electronically.
According to the Air Force, the Western region of Khmelnytsky, Ukraine, was the main target of the attack.
The governor of the region, Serhii Tyurin, said that no damage, injured or dead were recorded.
Russia has been intensifying long -range attacks against Ukraine.
Drone and missile waves hit Kiev on Friday in the largest air strike since the start of the Ukraine Russian invasion.
Mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, said today that the number of dead in the attack increased to two and 26 people were injured.
The new spot of attacks took place after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that he had a “very important and productive” telephone conversation with US counterpart Donald Trump.
Zelensky said they discussed the way Ukrainian air defenses can be reinforced, possible joint weapons production, and the widest efforts led by Washington to end the war.
“We had a very good phone call, I think,” Trump replied when asked Friday night by reporters about the call.
Zelensky said they were being prepared plans to develop Ukraine’s national weapons industry, but expansion will take time.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said it had slaughtered 94 Ukrainian drones this night and 12 more drones in the morning.
No victims were recorded, he added, according to AP.
