NO PUTIN AND XI

The BRICS summit occurs without the presence of two of the bloc’s main leaders: Russian President Vladmir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Putin does not present in person because of the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2023, just over a year after Russia began the war on a large scale against Ukraine, accusing the war leader to deport hundreds of children from Ukraine.

He must, however, participate in video conferencing.
