And the federation of com became central elements in the polarized dispute between the governor () and the mayor of, (), for the election of 2026 by the government of Pernambuco.
Together, these parties would currently have a significant portion of radio and television advertising time, measured according to the size of the council benches. The Union-PP Federation has 111 deputies (21% of the total), while the PT, which also has B and PV PC, has 79 (15%).
The calculation that, added, the two federations would possibly have more than a third of the total time is already made by the allies of Raquel and Campos, who want to have mastery in this field in order to prevent criticism from the opposing field.
The Union Brazil-PP Federation has not yet been made official by the Superior Electoral Court, while PT, PV and PC of B will still define whether they are still federated for another four years-the current bond runs until 2026.
The president’s party (PT) has as its priority in Pernambuco next year the reelection of Senator Humberto Costa (PT). The petista should be a candidate on the same plate as João Campos, who no longer makes allies that he will run for the government next year.
But Humberto did not closed the doors to the governor, who wants to have the petista as one of the two candidates for the Senate of his plate. The obstacle to this is Lula, who has a national alliance with the PSB.
Interlocutors Humberto Costa has already indicated that it is very difficult for the PT to support Raquel Lyra’s reelection, either from ideological distances, as the governor’s coalition also brings together pockets, such as the PSB election, which has Pernambuco as its number 1 priority in next year’s election.
In Pernambuco, the command of União Brasil is part of the base of support to the mayor of Recife. The acronym wants to launch the former mayor of Petrolina Miguel Coelho as a candidate for the Senate. However, the agreement between União Brasil and PP foresees that the Federation of the subtitle be chaired in the state by Federal Deputy Eduardo da Fonte (PP), one of Raquel’s main allies.
The Union Brasil-PP Federation does not even rule out, trying to get two names on a majority plate, whether of Raquel or João Campos. The scenario on the mayor’s side is more congested, as, in addition to Humberto and Miguel, former federal deputy Marília Arraes (Solidarity) and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho (Republicans), also want to compete in the Senate.
One of the changes in the radar of João Campos is the possible change on the side of the PP, which would carry the entire Federation with União Brasil to the PSB. The mayor believes that, with the governor behind the polls of voting intention, he may attract Eduardo da Fonte’s political group to his side.
National leaders of the Union-PP Federation say they want to get a name for the Senate and the other for the vice, regardless of the coalition in which they are. One hypothesis would be Eduardo da Fonte to Senate and Miguel as a candidate for vice governor, or the former mayor going to the Senate dispute and the deputy indicating a candidate for vice.
PP President in Pernambuco, Eduardo da Fonte, who will lead the Union-PP Federation in the state, has a good relationship with Humberto Costa.
João Campos has already publicly stated that the PSB will support Lula’s reelection, which brings him closer to the PT in the state. However, there are petistas who are close to the governor, such as the bench of state deputies and part of the party mayors in the interior.
PT state president, Deputy Doriel Barros, says he wants to have the support of the two stands for Lula next year in Pernambuco.
“I am an advocate of the idea that Raquel supports Lula. We need to reelect President Lula. The more support we have for him, the better. And that would be a recognition of the president’s work by Pernambuco,” he says.
He states, however, that “this decision will only be made next year in tune with the reelection project.”
A plate with Raquel, Humberto and Dudu da Fonte is considered by the Princess Campo Palace as an electoral checkout over the PSB. But there is recognition of the adversities to effect it.
In 2022, Raquel Lyra opted for neutrality and did not declare vote in the second round between Lula and Jair Bolsonaro.
The evaluation in the state government is that Raquel will hardly have a position on supporting Lula before 2026 arrived, because his own party, the PSD, can launch his own presidential candidate, such as the governor of Paraná, Ratinho Júnior.
