The scenario is repeated every year in a very popular tourist destination among British and Nordic visitors, located very close to Portugal. Benidorm, in Spain, is the stage of a curious phenomenon: an authentic race for sun loungers at 8 am.
Viral race on social networks
According to a video that has recently become viral, dozens of tourists impatiently await the opening of the pool doors of a resort in Benidorm. As soon as the doors open, guests start a frantic race toward the best balls.
Armed with towels and a lot of determination, these tourists star in a scene worthy of sports competition. Other guests, surprised by the caricatured situation, recorded the moments and shared us online.
Among the comments shared on social networks there are those who refer to humor: “If they run to some loungers, I don’t even want to imagine when they open the buffet.”
Another user states that this situation seems “more stressful than staying at home,” while a third party claims to feel “embarrassed by humanity” before the scene.
Taken seriously by some
Despite the fun tone of the videos, this “marathon of the loungers” is viewed with great seriousness by some visitors.
These do not hesitate to give up morning rest during the holidays to ensure the best place with the pool.
There are also those who directly blame the tourist resort, advocating the implementation of policies that prevent early reserve with towels or other personal effects: “I blame the hotels! They should implement a rule that would prevent the reserve of splashes. If they are not using the ballot at that time, they should not be able to reserve it with a towel or other personal object.”
