Woman dies after falling up to rappelling in southern Minas Gerais

A 36 -year -old woman died on Saturday (5) after falling a drop during the Pedra do Elefante region in the Andradas city in the south of Minas Gerais. The press office of the Sixth Military Firefighters Operational Command did not confirm the victim’s identity.

According to the firefighters, the accident occurred around 5:20 pm, when the woman, with approximately 93 meters to the base of the mountain, became unbalanced and fell for reasons still unknown on the way, she collided with the rocky wall and vegetation at the base of the mountain.

The victim was part of a group with two other practitioners of the activity (a 31 -year -old man and another 33 -year -old woman), all from the state of São Paulo. After completing the descent, the two members of the group located the victim already lifeless due to the trauma caused by the fall.

The Fire Department was called and moved a specialized garrison in height and terrestrial rescue, which walked about 6 kilometers per trails in closed forest until the victim locates. The body was removed from an area that is difficult to access to the point of support where teams were waiting to refer to the Poços de Caldas Legal Medical Institute (IML). The Civil Police were also called and will be responsible for the expertise and investigation of the cause of the accident.
