Strong storms with a windstorm caused power outages in many places in the east of Slovakia on Monday. “The Eastern Slovak distribution (VSD) has recorded a cumulative outage for tens of thousands of offtake points, gradually defining failures and restoring electricity distribution at the dispatching level level,” VSD spokeswoman Andrea Forbergerová told TASR.
According to her, the primary North of the VSD distribution area was affected by the primary weather. “The windstorm with rain was mainly affected by customers from Bardejov, Prešov, Lipany, Krompachy, Svidník, and partly Košice and their surroundings,” informed the spokeswoman. Pointed out that Strong winds, according to available information from meteorologists, achieved a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour and spread various objects on the streets. Roofs, trees, branches were dropped for the power line, insulators and brackets were damaged, and also torn wires.
“At the same time, there are emergency teams that struggle with the consequences of a wind-giant stink so that the supply of electricity will be restored as quickly as possible, and almost half the offtake points have already succeeded,” Forberger said.
