Victims were 6 counties; Teams follow the search and more rain are scheduled for the next 48 hours
The floods caused by heavy rains in the state of Texas (USA) have left at least 70 dead since Friday (4.Jul.2025). The number was confirmed by local authorities on Sunday (6.Jul) during an interview by Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) to journalists.
According to Abbott, 41 people are still missing. Rescue teams continue to work in the affected regions. Among the missing are 11 children and a monitor of the Camp Mystic Women’s Summer Camp.
Most of the deaths were recorded in Kerr County (59). There were also victims in Travis (4), Burnet (3), Kendall (2), Williamson (1) and Tom Green (1).
The governor warned that more intense rainfall is expected in the next 48 hours, especially in the Conzo Valley and the Kerrville region. “If you are in any of these areas, you must be aware that the soil is already saturated with water”he said.
US President Donald Trump (Republican) expressed solidarity with the victims and announced the collaboration of the federal government with local and state authorities. “Melania [primeira-dama] And I are praying for all families affected by this horrible tragedy. Our brave rescuers are on site doing their best ”he declared on his profile on the social Truth.
