The proposal of S included in the BRICS statement on Sunday (6) was rejected by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araye. In his Telegram profile, Iranian chancellor said the divergence will be recorded in a separate note.

The final text of the leaders summit reaffirmed the support “to the full adhesion of the State of Palestine to the United Nations in the context of the unshakable commitment to the solution of two states, in accordance with international law.”

On his channel on Telegram, Iranian foreign minister said “the solution of two states, which has been repeated for years, has come nowhere.”

According to him, “it is clear to all that the Israeli regime itself is the biggest obstacle to its realization.”

“This is why the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses reservations about the idea of two states in the final statement of the BRICS leaders and records its reservations by sending a note,” concludes the chancellor.

Iran entered BRICS full member in 2023. The expansion of the group accentuated divergences.

Throughout the negotiations, Iranian negotiators have pressed to harden the terms of a joint note, released by BRICS two weeks ago, condemning the attacks of the United States and Israel to military targets and nuclear facilities in the country.

After the long negotiation, the final statement of the BRICS leaders condemned the US and Israel military attacks on Iran. The term is a tone above the note released on June 24 that spoke of “deep concern” about the offensive.

“We have condemned the military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran since June 13, 2025, which constitute a violation of international law and the United Nations Letter, and expressly express concern about the subsequent escalation of the security situation in the Middle East,” says an excerpt from the final statement.
