Dunkirk-sprint king Jasper Philipsen fell violently at the Tour de France at a speed of 61 km/h and had to give up the race. The Belgian fell after a ripple on Monday on the 3rd stage shortly before the intermediate sprint around 60 km before the finish in Dunkirk. Philipsen fell on the right shoulder and was unable to continue on the roadside after minutes of treatment. Belgian Tim Merlier won the victory in the sprint, Mathieu van der Poel stayed in the yellow jersey.
