During the program of Expoacre Juruá 2025, one of the most exciting moments was the realization of the collective marriage promoted by the Citizen Project, coordinated by the Acre Court of Justice (TJAC). The ceremony officially united over 400 couples, many of them have been living for decades in a celebration marked by emotion, gratitude and citizenship.

Collective marriage is the final stage of the Citizen Project, which this year celebrates 30 years of existence, bringing services of citizenship and social inclusion to the most diverse communities of the state, including indigenous villages. The deputy governor Mailza Assis, present at the ceremony, highlighted the importance of the action:
“It is a realization promoted to contemplate those peers who are not in the financial condition to hold marriage. It is citizenship, well-being. I congratulate the judiciary and reinforce the partnership of the State Government.”
The president of TJAC celebrated the participation of the judiciary:
“It is a remarkable moment in the lives of families. Marriage strengthens ties and is essential for a healthier society. The family is the mainstay of society.”
One of the highlights of the event was the history of the couple Francisca and Raimundo, together for 60 years in the religious, and now officially married in civil.
“It was our wish. I had more desire, he was accompanying me,” said Francisca, 80, smiling. Beside her, Raimundo, 85, added:
“I’m not nervous, I’m happy. Now go to eternity.”

In addition to the free officialization of weddings, the Citizen Project offered a series of care in one place, facilitating the population’s access to essential services, such as issuing documents, legal advice, health care, among others.
Pastor Carlos dos Santos reinforced the spiritual value of the ceremony. “Many couples already live together and today they also regularize their situation before the Church. It is an important step in strengthening these families.”
At the end of the day, a special dinner was offered to the couple. “It is a moment of unity, of blessings. We are celebrating families that are born officially from now on,” said one of the organizers of the celebration.
