Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the attacks on Iran and offered Russia’s assistance as an intermediary to resolve nuclear disputes.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met on Sunday with Iranian counterpart Abbas Arakchi at the Summit BRICS in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to the statement of the Russian Ministry of Diplomacy, Moscow again offered Tehran aid in addressing the disputed issues concerning its nuclear program. TASR refers to Reuters Report.
Lavrov condemned the recent attacks of Israel and the United States on Iran, which also affected nuclear facilities. According to the statement, he stressed that all issues related to the Iranian nuclear program must be addressed exclusively to diplomatic means.
“Moscow has expressed its readiness to offer its help in finding mutually acceptable solutions, including the corresponding initiatives, which was previously submitted by the Russian President (Vladimir Putin),” the statement said.
Iran repeatedly rejects the charges of efforts to develop nuclear weapons and claims that its nuclear program has exclusively peaceful purposes. Russia, which maintains a strategic partnership with Iran, supports its right to peaceful use of nuclear energy and has also been offered as an intermediary in a crisis between Iran and Israel and the United States, including the possibility of storing Iranian enriched Uranus, recalls Reuters.
