United States President Donald Trump receives Israeli’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, at a critical time of negotiations for a possible 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.

In Doha, in Qatar, the first round of indirect negotiations between the delegations of Israel and Hamas about the temporary suspension conditions of the conflict ended last night without advances.

Even so, Trump says he believes that there is still a possibility according to Hamas this week.

On the eve of the meeting, the new indirect negotiation table began at Qatar with a proposal sponsored by Washington-which had the initial endorsement of Tel Aviv and the Palestinian radical group-which foresees a 60-day ceasefire, the release ten Israeli hostages, the return of 18 bodies and immediate sending humanitarian aid to the enclave.

Netanyahu’s ally, Trump has shown in recent days that he intends to be “very firm” with the Israeli leader to ensure a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, where the offensive of Israel’s forces against Hamas has left more than 57,000 dead and has caused a serious humanitarian crisis since October 2023.

When he left for the United States, Benjamin Netanyahu admitted that the meeting with Donald Trump could contribute to the conclusion of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza.

In the same vein, the US President considered that there is good possibilities to reach an agreement during the week.

Iran, Syria and a trade agreement between Israel and the United States will be other topics on Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, the third since the beginning of the year.
